Change a QR code’s URL after printing
How an editable QR link works, and how to update a saved destination in Dotcarry.
A QR image contains fixed data. Once it is on a box, card or sign, you cannot rewrite those squares remotely. You can still change where people arrive if the code contains a redirect link you control.
What the saved code contains
When you create and download a code in Dotcarry, it contains a short Dotcarry address. Opening that address sends the visitor to the destination saved in your account. Changing the saved destination keeps the short address, and therefore the printed pattern, the same.
This only works for a code created and saved through Dotcarry. A code from another generator that contains a product URL directly cannot be made editable by uploading its image here. You would need to print a new code.
Update your destination
Open the code from Your codes on the device where you made it, or sign in to your account. Select Change URL, paste the new destination and save it. You don’t need to download or print the image again.
Scan your existing print and check the result. If a page was already open in a phone browser, scan again to open the link afresh. Confirm that the new page is public and works on a phone.
Keep the link available
Every code you have already created stays active and editable after cancellation or failed payment. The $12 USD monthly subscription unlocks unlimited new creation and bulk generation. Ending a subscription stops those creation features; it does not deactivate printed codes.
Before changing a destination used on many products, check that the new page makes sense for every place that code appears. A shared code is useful for one menu or general instructions; separate product codes give you more control when products change independently.
